Our Rooms

A Magical

Place to Rest

Our hotel sits in the valley of Laugar, close to many of North Iceland’s natural sights. Simple rooms, warm water, and quiet evenings.

Our Story

Aurora Farm is a family project — built slowly, thoughtfully, and with a lot of heart.

The farm is very much a collective effort. Everyone is involved, each in their own way, and the greatest joy comes from building something special and sharing it with others. Life at Aurora Farm follows the rhythm of the seasons and the surrounding nature, with days spent outdoors and time shared together. Winter brings snowmobiling, northern lights, and geothermal warmth; summer is for fishing, hiking, and long evenings under the midnight sun.

Aurora Farm is located in one of the most active aurora regions in the Northern Hemisphere, right in the heart of Iceland’s Diamond Circle. Natural geothermal water flows directly from the land, feeding the outdoor hot springs that hotel guests can enjoy exclusively. Farm life here moves at a calm, unhurried pace, and the setting makes Aurora Farm a natural base — and a comforting pause — when exploring North Iceland.

The restaurant reflects the same family-driven philosophy. The food is simple, Icelandic, and honest, with a strong focus on local produce sourced from neighboring farms whenever possible. Fish arrives fresh from Skjálfandi Bay, and menus are guided by the seasons rather than trends. The emphasis is on quality ingredients, thoughtful preparation, and a genuine connection to place.

Aurora Farm is very much a work in progress, and that is part of its charm. It is being built with care and intention — a retreat created by a family for themselves, and generously shared with guests who wish to experience real Iceland. The overall experience is pure Icelandic magic: geothermal warmth, clean food, sustainable living, deep connection with nature, and time to enjoy the simple pleasures of life.

At its heart, Aurora Farm is about togetherness — family, land, and guests coming together in a place shaped by nature, tradition, and quiet joy.
